About ME

Masha Ermak was born in Minsk, Belarus and grew up in Switzerland. After studying 3D Animation at the Lucerne University of Sciences and Applied Arts, she moved to New York and earned her Master of Professional Practices (MPS) degree in Digital Photography from the School of Visual Arts. She currently resides in New York and Los Angeles.

Masha’s graduate work exposed a dark humor and bizarre juxtapositions of the human form to comment on social norms and body image. More recently she has taken inspiration from pop art and vintage fashions. Bored of ordinary fashion photography and contemporary art, she has created a playground of surreal juxtapositions of fashion, art and locations, with an underlying tongue in cheek quality and deliberate use of color and compositions. Masha photographs herself not from a place of egotism or narcissism, but out of necessity – she is the most affordable and hard working model she can get her hands on, and she is always available.
